NOCTI Pathway Assessments
NOCTI has developed a new battery of assessments that focus on the Pathways established as part of the National Career Cluster Model. These assessments are broader in scope than NOCTI’s Job Ready assessments.
Pathway assessments have approximately 100 questions and students are allowed up to two hours to complete them. When ordering, the test can be divided into two one-hour sessions, if desired. Both traditional and engaging interactive-type items make up the assessments. Delivery is online only.
Students will answer questions on not only the career area, but also on employability skills, such as communication, team work, problem solving, critical thinking, and decision making.
Introductory pricing is another attractive feature of the Pathway Assessments. The Pre/Post set is $15 and the Post-Test only is $10.

Technical Theater Assessment
In collaboration with the New York City Department of Education’s Office of Arts and Special Projects, NOCTI is pleased to announce the release of a new assessment for Technical Theater programs. The assessment, consisting of both a multiple-choice and performance component, is now available nationally for ordering as part of NOCTI’s job ready-level assessment battery.
The Technical Theater assessment is aligned with industry standards and was developed by a committee of subject matter experts representing industry, union, secondary, and post-secondary education. The assessment combination measures the basic technical theater knowledge and understanding as well as hands-on activities covering costume, make-up and hair, construction, electrics, sound, and stage management. Schools will have an option to select one or more specialty areas for the performance component based on the student’s technical theater expertise.
“We are very excited to offer this new assessment for the arts and have been privileged to work with such a talented group of experts throughout the development process,” NOCTI President/CEO, Dr. John Foster said. Paul King, Executive Director of the Office of Arts and Special Projects commented, “The New York City Department of Education is honored to have lead this initiative and to have partnered with industry, school and higher level experts to craft this assessment. We are confident that the technical theater assessment will validate and promote technical theater programs by providing a rigorous and authentic indicator of student achievement.”
Schools interested in purchasing the Technical Theater assessment can do so through NOCTI. To learn more about the assessment, visit the “Other Available Titles” section of NOCTI’s website under Assessment Blueprints (http://www.nocti.org/OtherTestTitles.cfm). Orders for this assessment may be placed through NOCTI’s online order form.
