President's Message:
I had the opportunity to visit China this year and I was amazed at the excitement there over the importance of technical assessment. We are hearing through our contacts in the private sector that many developing countries realize the value of performance assessment and the certification of technical skills. Those of us involved in career and technical education realize this too. We know that our students will compete in a global economy – an economy that will judge its workers based on a certification system of the skills they can actually perform. NOCTI has formed many new relationships over the past year and we have initiated a host of new products. All of these products revolve around data that individuals need to make career decisions. Whether it is a decision to hire, a decision to certify, or a decision to adjust a training program, NOCTI is there!
Data and the assessment that the data is generated from are a specialty of the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute and our sister company, The Whitener Group. Established in 1966, NOCTI’s strength is in actual performance assessments of occupational skills as well as written and online assessments. We can analyze the skill sets needed for emerging occupations, assess job readiness, report this data in a variety of media, and provide professional development for individuals who use the data. We can also help with state and local plans and the implementation of a nationally validated, industry generated competency assessment system – a system that assesses not only the cognitive domain, but the affective and psychomotor as well.
NOCTI and The Whitener Group’s online security system is state of the art and protects the integrity of our assessments. This technology enables us to encrypt our online assessments and deliver them to specifically targeted and authorized client workstations. This keeps our assessments and your data protected which helps to maintain each assessment’s psychometric and legal defensibility. We are confident that the encryption process we use will keep your information safe, secure and confidential.
NOCTI and The Whitener Group are involved with a number of national initiatives and maintain contracts with several states to assess their students’ occupational competence as well as embedded academic skills. We also work with national certification associations such as the Graphic Arts Education & Research Foundation (GRAEF), the American Culinary Federation (ACF), Mastercam, the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC), the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), the American Welding Society (AWS), the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) to deliver assessments for certification of professionals in those fields.
I hope you will take some time to explore our web site (www.nocti.org). If you want quality assessments, assessment development, data usage, certification opportunities, help with Perkins IV implementation, or professional development, NOCTI and The Whitener Group can assist you.
Please feel free to contact us and let us know how we may be of assistance to you and your colleagues. Sincerely, |
