The CTAE Resource Network, Inc., a non-profit Consortium of Georgia Public Schools, is facilitating workshops for the development of end-of-pathway assessments for Georgia’s CTE programs. This initiative is a result of the mandate set forth in the new Perkins IV Legislation requiring states to implement a mechanism to ascertain the level of the technical skill attainment on behalf of its CTE students.
NOCTI is currently working with The CTAE Resource Network and the Georgia Department of Education by facilitating workshops to assist the state in identifying assessments for this important initiative. Subject Matter Expert (SME) teams comprised of secondary and post-secondary educators as well as business and industry representatives are using the Georgia Performance Standards as a foundation to research possible assessment tools. Options for a suitable assessment include identification of an existing national assessment or certification, modification of an existing national assessment, or development of a customized assessment.
NOCTI has provided general assessment guidance to the SME teams and has facilitated the modification of existing NOCTI assessments and the development of new customized assessments for several pathways. Now in its second year with piloting underway, the project is moving forward successfully due to the dedication of the participating SMEs, the CTAE Resource Network, and the Georgia Department of Education. Georgia is to be commended for its commitment to excellence in CTE programs across the state.
