Home Builders Institute’s Blended Learning Prepares Students for Certification

As the country continues to adjust to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Career Technical Education (CTE) construction programs are reinventing what training looks like. For many, this school year requires social distancing and utilizing blended or remote learning. We have always known that a traditional classroom doesn’t work for everyone and that real-world application of CTE appeals to many of those students. However, taking a blended approach can make for an even better fit. CTEtechWorks – HBI’s blended learning solution for residential construction can help CTE programs expand student reach and lead to more successful outcomes. Blended learning:

  • Allows flexibility amidst social distancing requirements, without delaying progress.
  • Offers multiple types of instruction to support various learning styles through differentiated learning.
  • Uses technology to reinforce concepts learned in the shop and provides real-time remediation opportunities.
  • Includes various assessment types to validate that learning objectives are met.
  • Frees up time for instructors to try new methods of teaching, including “flipping the classroom.”

Since 2009, NOCTI and HBI have partnered to provide credentials leading to industry-recognized certifications for those seeking careers in construction.

The Home Builders Institute (HBI) is the nation’s leading educational resource for career technical education in the building industry. HBI provides its students with the skills and experience they need for careers in residential construction. Visit www.hbi.org to learn more.
