With a 55-year history focused on a national presence and deep integration in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) community at both the secondary and postsecondary levels, NOCTI is uniquely positioned to be a valued partner for the CTE community. NOCTI continuously monitors the CTE landscape to pursue collaborative partnerships with like-minded organizations to support the preparation of college and career-ready learners. NOCTI’s latest collaboration is with Stratasys a company with over three decades of experience in driving change in 3D printing technologies.

For the past 40 years Rapid Prototyping, Rapid Fabrication, 3D Printing, and now Additive Manufacturing (AM) has evolved and is being integrated in the worlds of education, design, production, and manufacturing. AM technologies are changing the world of manufacturing in many ways and Stratasys is working diligently to assist companies in the areas of prototyping, tooling, jigs, fixtures, go/no go gauges, dunnage trays, inspection tools, and even end-use parts.

Students are being introduced to AM through exciting new programs. Stratasys realized the need for validation of skills and has partnered with NOCTI to develop the Stratasys FDM Certification, a certification to assist in ensuring knowledge and skills in technologies, applications, materials, operations, software, design, and post processing. Currently in the pilot phase of development, NOCTI and Stratasys are excited for the release of this new certification opportunity.

Creating a credentialing assessment with a third-party organization focuses on independent development and verification, thus reducing actual or perceived conflict of interest. While it is important for an individual to prove their skill level by obtaining a third-party credential, it is equally as important for the organization developing the assessment to be a third-party, independent organization such as NOCTI.

Watch for updates to this exciting new certification as we progress through the development process. To learn more about Stratasys, visit www.stratasys.com and follow them on Stratasys blog, Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook.
